    Faibanx MUCK -- where to go from here?

    Well, as some of you who were on the muck know, it was a few months ago we tried to "upgrade" the muck with little success.  Here's something to get Blue nervous about to distract him from website futzing -- should we look into upgrading Faibanx MUCK again, or do people like things as they are?

    I'm completely alright with how it is, but then again, I'm not quite sure what you had in mind for an upgrade. :]

    Well...

    I just prefer a running MUCK to one that theoritically would be so super and spiffy and ÜBER cool, but is down once again.

    Update?  I dunno, I'm really just referring to if we give a try to updating the muck software to the latest and greatest again.  :)

    Well, since I've no better place to harass Akisame (has anyone seen him, BTW?) I figure I might as well do my besserwissering (bess-err-viss-err-ing) here.

    Just some stuff that I've found myself wanting lately... like a "steal"-proceedure (and of course switches that allow certain items to be taken off of someone or not) and also prolly one for speaking and/or posing OOC that's faster than

    "(OOC) My battery is dying OR :(OOC) needs to go to sleep.

    Not to mention the fact that it still says "grows a kruft in the well."

    And also having a little log that's attached to each player to see their last couple of poses and/or 'says,' so that when someone comes in and sees:

    Patch suicides using the Easteregg.

    They'd have the oppurtunity to understand what I was talking about if I had my settings up to show, say, the last six poses or says that I've entered... also might allow people to jump into a play that's going on without interrupting one of the players with a "WTF's happening?"-whisper.

     And that would be about it for my requests/complaints/griping about Faibanx for now.
    The last thing I want to do before I die is pull the trigger.

    The commands are osay and opose on Faibanx. Though I wouldnt mind an 'ooc' command as an alias either.

    It's come to my attention that, plenty of times I'll refer to an action that I think doesn't exist, and how it should be created, only to be told "oyea, that does actually exist; it's called..."

    So, insteadof feeling like a dummy all the time, I propose an update to Faibanx' Command-Reference; it'd make it easier to navigate if it were grouped by category (e.g.: housebuilding, character-switches, (can/can't be robbed, picked up, eaten, etc.) buttons, and actions [list not meant to be inclusive]).

    Maybe even just another page at the top or bottom that has more commands, to avoid clutter on the main page, and then just have an alphebetical index on the other.

    We could even do it wiki-style if it came to that, but meh, either way I want more.


    The last thing I want to do before I die is pull the trigger.

     I was actually working on something like this, but the program got too big, so I'll have to cut it into sections.  Which would have made more sense to do first, but that just ain't my way.  I'll be awhile on this, I have a ton of stuff to add.

     I surely wouldnt mind a Faibanx wiki manual. I am just totally unskilled at wiki stuff.

    There is a Faibanx entry at wikifur by the way, mind you.

    As for the building stuff, that works the same way as in any other MUCK, so one can use the standard MUCK manual. Who does however check out my office as encouraged to when reading the info boards, or who asks me, will find a little tutorial with examples that explains the basics and how things work.

    But yes, sure. A full wiki would be nice. Smile

    lets just hope it dosn't cause the muck to blow up and cause poor dino to have to remake people as well as cause everyone to have to remake or reset things they had already taken care of.

    That is why the muck is backed up every few hours.  Last time when the muck crashed dino just had to go back to the recent backup.
