I guess the only thing that is missing from this forum software, and correct me if i'm wrong, but i dont seem to be able to find a button that just links you straight to the last or newest post within a thread.  Which is lame.

Forum still looks great at least.

Seems this forum allows neither uploading Avatars nor pictures so far?

Edit: Aaaaand they run out of anti aliasing skills for avatar auto reductions too.

@Zilla: Actually, klicking on the thread that was last replied to from the main forum page ONLY gets you to the last message. From the subsection the 'Last post' under the name of the thread and before the name of the poster is a link too, that does just that.

@Ahastern: Well you CAN upload an avatar. It works. With the right cryptic combination of pressing Update and Save, a very rare sometimes. And it somehow can mess up the transparency, but sometimes it also works. How uploading an image to a post works or if it is at all possible, I haven't found out yet. I can only guess that software is a forum for huge masses that one sees as a burden rather than as friends, ans that thus shall not be allowed to waste precious diskspcace and traffic (as if the inefficinet connection and cookie handling wouldn't do enough of that already) with images unless they have been allowed to do so by being granted a gallery with which to do it.

Rarr!  It's got Firefox support! Yes  And the interface is like it was before, too, in message posting.  The whole editing tools schema is there just like before, which I always thought ruled.  I'm glad to see it wasn't done away with.

More than anything, though, this software looks quite comprehensively done.  There are options upon options that you just don't see in other forum software packages.  Hell of a required learning curve to figure out all of its functions, but once a person does... wow.

Hell of an upgrade guys.  Looks like somebody put some research into how best to develop LavaDomeFive.

Excellent outcome, if a dragon has a right to say so.

    Which he does.  Cool

Wow this is a change from before.  I like how the colors are on the forums, easy to read too Idea

Now I just have to setup my avatar. Smile

So far to me. it's quite hard to get used to.

Although i do miss the ability to change your name. since the old forums allowed that.

Known as Dragonstomp. (Just needed a change in name for the new forum.)

Actually, maksio, there IS a way. Sounds to me like you've got it set to show posts in the "Threaded View" where the posts are separated and you have to click in the window on the left to view each one. At the top of the screen, click "Change View" and choose "Flat View", then they'll all show on one page like they used to.

I tried it on the Threaded View that you're using and I hated it. The Flat View is much better.

That is a truly awesome and sexy picture that Rex has allowed us to show off right on the front page of LD5.  It's precisely what I was looking to show off for the Dome refresh, and I bet Blue took my quote to heart when he asked Rex to do it for us:  "I want a big giant stomping claw right on the friggin' front page so people know what LD5 is all about!"  And damn, doesn't that just do the job?  :)

I also can't believe I'm the first speck to point out that Rex prefers the "flat" view.  Stopyclaw Yes Big Smile

Re: How do you like the new forum software?

that works :) still could use a button at the bottom that will just reply on the whole topic, not reply to a particular post :p

Lol! Thanks, Dino! I thought as much myself - I thought it appealed to all tastes and really summed up what this community is into.

Re: How do you like the new forum software?

I like the Firefox support and the improved flashiness (Quick Reply For The Win) and functionality. I've also tried inserting an image into a post and I like the plethora of placement options very much.

However... I notice I still have to add in hyperlinks the OLD way. Maybe that's just for Firefox. Also... I'mafraid to guess how long the refresh rate (load time) these pages must be for slower connections...

I wish I could be more active here, but I'm too busy drawing furry for Concession to draw scaly here...
