I got a forward about this and wanted to send it on to you guys (especially for those sci-fi -lovers amoung you) incase you haven't seen it already.

It's a robotic beast of burden built by Boston Dynamics with funding from DARPA called BigDog. It looks like it could be used to transport munitions on the battlefield or between fronts. It's gas-powered, with a hydrolic control-system in charge of locomotion. And it can do amazing shit.

For those of you with Windows you can get the WMV here. You may have to use WMP to play it, because there was a codec it downloaded before it started up.

Alternatively there's a shitty lowrez Utoob-link if you're not codec-savvy, or have a slower connection.

Wow, when it was overcoming obstacles/hazards/attacks it was pretty amazing, but like most of the brass who saw that, they want to see that (a) repeatable multiple times and (b) had to be laughing as it sounded like an angry bee swarm while running on gasoline. :)

I've seen that vid, and "codec" is right... that thing is the first step towards a real-life Metal Gear!

That was pretty interesting and I have to agree that it looks like something I'd see out of Metal Gear. xD
