Off the top of my head, Mad Max was dubbed to remove Australian accents. One of the characters in Krull had her accent (Irish?) removed by dubbing over. Schwarzenegger had his voice dubbed over earlier in his career.

Y'know, not common, but if I looked maybe I could find more.

Since people seem to like this so much, I'll let you know that he was laughing again this week, while explaining to a rather clueless Merlin that love is too powerful to be stopped by magic.

Merlin dragon on the rampage in season finale next Saturday. I bet the CG shots will be dissappointingly sparce!

If they do kill off the dragon (they always have to kill off the dragons, darn it), I'll have no reason to watch season 3, not sure if that's good or bad. No dragon = bad, no watching = good!

I'll be expecting to see pulped corpses sticking to the dragon's soles.

Also pads on them, also his paws will hopefully have gotten bigger.

Just thought I'd share a moment from this week's Merlin. The show is really quite shockingly bad for the most part, but it does have the occasional dragon cameo, though he never does anything more than talk.

Dragon = Awesome.
Dragon + Classical British voice actor = Required.
Dragon + Laughing classical british voice actor = Win.

Yay for John Hurt!

That was one happy Dragon...

The British accent seems to fit Dragons, and Evil masterminds. It implies authority, and self control. Two very respectable, and dangerous traits...

I would like to see A Dragon talk like an Irish drunkard myself though. Not because I would be hot or anything like that, but just because it would be funny.... lol being that I'm an Irish American, and a Drunkard...

I agree, we need more drunk dragons!

Not too drunk though, just.... boisterous and merry.

Agreed. Some of the best macro fun I got to watch was with drunk dragons.
When they dont mind about decency no more and just do as pleases their unleashed naughty mind.
Or as primal urges and nature demand. ;)

Best drunk dragons ever is the scene in the inn's cellar from the "The Flight of Dragons" cartoon film. They even cut it out of the US version I believe, cos they couldn't have drunk dragons in a cartoon presumably?

Drunk air-banjo. 'nuff said.

Whelp, I've not been disappointed. Poor set of dragon stuff all round in that end-of-season show: all set at night (of course!), and they even repeated a couple of CG dragon shots.

And they didn't even touch on the fact the dragon has been a helpful guy for two seasons until now. Was he just pretending to be nice? Did he have an ulterior motive (new Camelot rising from the ashes of the old)? We want more dragon story!

And annoyingly, not dead either, so now I'll have to watch season 3 to see if he ever shows up again.

OMG!

I just watched the last episode of season 2, and they DIDN'T kill the dragon. Merlin gained the power to control dragons, and used it to calm the dragon, then spared his life. The dragon flew away, after saying that Merlin's mercy wasn't lost on him, so maybe he'll be a nicer dragon when he shows up again.

Not a huge amount of dragon action (most of the episode is about Merlin wandering around looking for his father), and a lot of it is a re-used shot of him swooping around looking menacing.

Other interesting information:
- the dragon's name is Gilgara.
- a dragon's heart is on the right side of it's chest, not the left like in humans.
- his appearance was changed in this episode to look suitably evil, with glowing red eyes and huge fangs. Made him look demonic.
- couple of paw shots (no stomping).
- body count: at least 100+ knights + civilians.

Bah, Aeon beat me to it! I wanted first post about the last episode.

The first season has the dragon's motive as wanting to fulfill the prophecy about Merlin and Arthur (he comes across as good but very cynical), until the last episode when he reveals that he was only ever interested in escaping his imprisonment, regardless of what that meant for anyone else (i.e. selfish motives). In season 2, it's explicitly stated in most episodes that he only helps Merlin in return for the promise of freedom.

The dragon's doing is clearly part of a greater plot that the dumb humans cannot see through yet. (of course. Because they are dumb. Because they are ... well never mind.)
It must have somehow involved them casualties removed and the remaining ones thinking that Merlin is their hero and him thinking that he can calm dragons.
Or at the middle and the rest was just to make it work. :|
But then again I didnt have to watch it.

Season 3 of Merlin started today, and there was some dragon in the first episode. He burned up some giant scorpions and there was a quite good paw-shot as he flew away.
