Yes, I know, I am a whiner and all that but...
Long story short, I need a distinctive feature on my character. It really annoys me that I cannot be drawn because I cannot be recognized because there is nothing that tells the beholder of a pic with a pencil sketched raptorthing that this is gonna be me. Now I sadly am not a dragon or such that can just come up with a distinctive combination of horns and frills and snout form and ears, let alone a cool mane or haircut, and, yes, I admit I am quite the bit picky too so I refuse to go with feathers for example or some other things that I don't want on me...

Short story even shorter, I need a distinctive feature and I ask you, my friends, for help and ideas. :(

And so you have an encouragement, who comes up with the idea that matches the points below best will get a free commission with me from a friend of mine, the one who drew the character sketch.

required:
-feasible / physically possible
-no feathers or hairs or non-reptile stuff
-not requiring color to be recognized
-visible if only head, neck and maybe shoulders are shown
-not obstructing too much of the body or restricting messy action or swimming
-distinctive
-suitable for (furry) public
should-have:
-keeping the unspoiled reptile body and skin
-not looking like a ripoff of some other character's distinctive feature
-easily to be assumed to change the size along with the body (for macro)
-easy to draw and recognize
-making some sense
bonus points:
-not putting the character into a narrow timeline / universe
-simple
-cool
-80's
-useful
-Blue themed
-raptor/dinosaur themed

So. Ideas?

And no, just "A hat." will not do as an answer I'm afraid. ('sides, how would it hold on that head?)

Given the realistic reptilian scaly-only features, the ONLY thing that can be done are colors really. Be it patterns, marks, or whatnot

How about a rex footprint?

It wouldn't fit.

And the whole point is they are exactly as useful as you would expect. You're always cold, but you're so dead-sexy that you only feel comfortable covering up what's not there. And if a rex wants to make a flat raptor out of you, it really doesn't matter if you hear them coming, or how soon.

As an additional/alternate accessory, a wine glass; held in the hand or by the tip of the tail. For catching the blood, sweat and/or tears of other rex victims. Ain't no rule saying shadenfreude is beneath the noblesse oblige.

Schadenfreude is very Blue.

You could always go with some reptile style head-frills and such, that or scars/markings here and there on your hide. The only other solution would be accessories, if you're wanting to stick with all the stuff you listed. ^^

I'll stick with my mass of horns, frills, and fat to be recognizable. ;)

Oh, accessories are fine of course! Should I have mentioned that more clearly?

40% meh, 60% "A hat." ("Markings." Who would have thought of that? ;) )

I appreciate the participation in my woes muchly though. :)

sadly pretty much Uncle Kage's trademark already. But still valid.

A very valid entry. As weird as it is, this one has yet to be topped in this topic.

I'm with the whole Schadenfreude deal. I say black claw-gloves, so I got something to hide in, get nice and wedged in a toecrotch.

But...hrm. Something to signify he's taking pleasure in other's sorrow...

Black latex foot-covering thingies and gloves? ^..^ Then you can squeak!

That would be neat.

As for the earmuffs, I suggested a scarf back at the con, but you didn't like it.

I'm suggesting it again though.

Since we're going with the cold theme, I say a scarf.

You can be stylish and someone can have something to drag you along to bed with. It's like a more humane collar. ;)

a necklace ? a wristlet perhaps ?

Post subject:  Re: Help! I don't exist!

Well I guess scarf COULD work if it doesn't look too much like a snow accessory. Will have to consider it.

Necklaces can be OK too. Just like a pattern and "a hat". But what kind of necklace? What would it look like? What is it made of? How does that relate to me and why does that make sense somehow?

Wrist stuff can be fine too but is unlikely to win because... well, look at forum avatars. No wrists on it, thus not a good feature.
