Is it just me, or does the forum keep going down? Several times now over the last few days I've gotten nothing but a 404 and other errors when I try to come here. Pretty much all afternoon I couldn't come here either. In the last few cases however, I could see the main LD5 website. Makes me wonder what's going on.

I swear, I didn't eat Alaska or anything! :munch:

I check here for new posts roughly twice a day, and I haven't run into any invisible walls. Maybe it's just a timezone thing?

Could very well be.

That does sound odd...are you sure it's the main website you can get to, and not a member site? The main site and the forums are the same server, member sites are on a different server. If you do more troubleshooting I can tells ya, but I'd wager it's just general Internet hooey to blame.

We have a forum?

Aye, could just be a problem from my ISP getting to the Ld5 servers. And in each case now, its just the forums I can't get to. ^^() Quite odd really. I've done all the usual troubleshooting too. :3

It seems to be DNS issues, and to hit some people harder and more often than others.

I have it too, a LOT recently, with the MUCK as well, and found out that it was because I was directed to a wrong IP adress. In addition to my recently already rather bad connection to Alaska.
When I tried to connect to the right IP adress instead of "The IP you give me for when I ask for www.lavadomefive.com", it worked.
Strangely and shockingly, the page even went away a few times even after I was once given the right IP, just a few minutes or even just seconds later, so some very persistent one must still be telling my naming servers that he knows better where lavadomefive.com is to find, and give a wrong adress. Which may be one of the old IPs before Dino's provider once again gave him a new one.

Definitely an issue, though not something we can do anything about. I hope whatever causes it will be well again soon. For now, asking someone who made it to here or the MUCK for the right IP (currently its 66.230.110.171) and putting that instead of www.lavadomefive.com should be a clunky workaround.

Same issue here at the moment. ping and traceroute say lavadomefive.com is 209.112.209.235. Try that in firefox, I get a blank page (the same blank page as www.lavadomefive.com).

But if I use 66.230.110.171 (as got from Blue), the website works.

Strange, cos I could get onto Faibanx without any IP changing.

Woo, first time I've been able to get on all day. Even with using the full IP address, I've not been able to get here. Not the main site either, so the DNS problems must be quite bad going through my neck o' the woods.

Dino said earlier on the MUCK the fault is liekly on his provider's side, and that they were already aware of the problem but yet to stupid to fix it.
It seems to have gotten at least better now, as I got the the right IP from DNS requests several times in a row.
(Curent IP is 66.230.108.17 until Dino' provider changes it again, which sadly seems to happen rather often.)
