Well hello to everyone here  My first post here, saying hello to everyone! here's discussion topic about how old you have to be to view sexually explicit material, especially on the dome since alot is not sexual or even violent. It's probably a matter of opinion. What do you think is an appropriate? and what do you think about the current "limits"? |

Ahoy there and welcome to the Dome! I don't think age limits are ever the be-all and end-all in deciding who can fairly and responsibly be allowed to see 'adult' material, but they're the only real option in most cases. What it really comes down to is a person's maturity, but that varies enormously even between people from the same country, let alone from different countries and cultures, and it can't be measured without the person being subjectively judged by someone else. You don't suddenly become mature at a preset age (mentally, I mean) - it all depends on when in life you experience and encounter certain things, which is itself usually decided by the rules and conventions of whichever society you're in. Most societies allow people to be exposed to 'adult' things somewhere between the age of 15 and 21 and subsequently most people become mature enough to cope with them between those same ages. There's probably going to be an age at which someone genuinely isn't mentally mature enough to comprehend sex, violence and all the rest, but it's not going to have anything to do with the age at which society deems you ready for it. Personally I think 18 works pretty well in Britain for most things, but I've known mature 15-year-olds and immature 21-year-olds who make a mockery of the whole thing. |

I am my very own insanity, thank you. And yes, mature. I think in most countries that is tied to an age of 18. Or 16. |

Aye, most countries seem to hit around the 18 age for adult content. That's how it is up here in Canadaland anyways. |

Yes, I've encountered the same thing. Mature 15-year-olds as well as highly immature 21-year-olds that seem to just give everyone they associate with a bad name. Who would have thought that a tyrannosaur and a raptor would have the same opinion on anything?

Such a thing is possible only once every 54.1 days, when the stars are in the correct alignment to allow meaningful communication between rex and raptor. |
