Yes, as usual I missed the actual Fern Day (June 16th), but we can at least celebrate the observed Fern Day, which will be this Saturday, June 19th!
So...now it's time for my annual "What the fuck is Fern Day?" answering post.
Fern Day is a hollow-day that originated in an episode of the cartoon series Dinosaucers, which, of course, is...if not the spiritual origin, then at least the namesake origin of this very community itself. Fern Day was celebrated on Reptilon, where all the smexy-dinos lived and stomped. It was a harvest celebration that occurred after the fern harvest, and this time coincided with school getting out for the summer in Amerika(tm).In a nutshell, all violence is forbidden for the entire twenty-four hours of Fern Day. That means no slapping, no stomping, no eatin' of others, no squishing...so somehow is a humorously appropriate abstinence hollow-day for LD5.
So what happens to anyone who gets violent on Fern Day?
...you DON'T wanna KNOW.
Anyway, let's all have a safe and happy Fern Day this year, and save up lots of stomps for Sunday.
