ZBrush can take obj models with a fairly low polygon count and massively, massively crank up the resolution - so you can add that kind of amazing textural detail - then turn the high resolution details into a bump/normal/colour map to stick back on your low-res model!

It's awesome, maaan.

I've seen ZBrush in action of course; we used it at work. Just saying it must have a few polys in it, since that's a non-bump mapped version.
