Woah, wait what??? You actually told someone and she was fine with it!? That's awesome! I drew close to telling a friend myself a couple of days ago, but stopped myself. I got as far as asking him if he knew what a furry was, then stopped there. He had no idea, and I wasn't sure how far I wanted to push my luck. Someone we both knew had recently admitted to being gay, and he didn't take that well at all. I was pretty sure he wouldn't take my own ah... differences well either. That's a huge step for you though, and I'm happy for you. Lucky bastard....

You know this fandom does not just include yiff you know--tell him about anthropomorphism and fantasy. Take some of these for example and explain it differently.

I think it may be better to say it yourself--it can show some confidence in you, plus you can always say it differently than on given paper.

Or perhaps you could print it off and "accidentally" leave it somewhere he will find it and know that it is yours. But then that might not be the best idea. It might just make things *really* awkward every time you see each other afterwards. Perhaps ESC's idea is better.

The whole fandom is already bad enough into the stereotype of "nothing but yiff", so it's TONS better by saying something else.

I wonder how you're going to fair, Zaggy. It may be simple or not easy at all, depending on how your friend acts and behaves.

YIFF: furry-themed online or RL (real life) activities about sex that make or are meant to make the humans behind it ejaculate.
CSI: Popular TV series with an episode that says furries are sickos that have gang orgies in suits pretending to be animals.
(and that consequentually do it with everyone when the animal they think they are does it and have to be shot by farmers)
PRØN: Weird spelling of the word 'porn', either to make it look cooler, to fool last century's keyword filters, or to make fun of people who think it does one of the former.
PIZZA: Popular junkfood. Symbol of an unhealthy uncaring and yucky lifestyle of people who dont have a proper (family) life.

Wearing animal ears or furry feet: Something a lot of furries do. Not something that makes people take you serious.
Wearing an animal collar: Something a lot of furries do. Not something that makes people take you serious or think you are a properly grown up adult.
Having unattractive body parts exposed: Something a lot of furries (and other slackers too, admittely) do. Not something that makes people like you more or think you are a decent person.
Having a little plushie animal impaled on your erection: Something some furries do. Not something to help people think you are a decent person or sane.

Combining all that to sum up the furry community and claiming cons are all about that, but have all that alibi stuff on the right purely to make them look better and easier to grasp for outsiders: Awesome.

Okay, so I didn't really want to start a whole new topic just for this, but I wanted to say, I did it! I actually told someone, who did understand. I made a reference to how I took things differently than she meant them, and that my mind worked a lot differently than most other people's, and she got curioius. She kept pestering me to tell me what I meant. I hadn't really intended to tell her, but she got it out of me. (although deep down I think I *wanted* her to get it out of me) And it turns out that she was very understanding! She also tells me that she has a sneeze fetish. (never heard of that one ) But anyways, I thought it was fantastic that I was able to finally tell someone.
