hello. i was just wndering. i have windows vista and i want to put movies onto my ipod from my dvd collection. does anyone know what the best software to use is and how to actually do it? ive downloaded a software called handbrake but it doesnt seem to work

i could buy it on itues but its £7 and if theres a way of putting dvds onto there itll be free

any help would be much appreciated!

Try DVD Shrink, its an older bit of software but I've had no trouble ripping most DVD's and putting them pretty much anywhere.

You could also give the company AVS4YOU a try.

I recommend Handbrake myself...there's both Windows and Mac versions.

thanks all! ive used dvd shrink to put the movie onto the computer but how do i add the file to itunes does anyone know? i know HOW to add files to itunes but its not working since its in two folders (audio and video) i think i need to convert it somehow to make it work. any suggestions? i have zip if thats any help.

iTunes won't let you synch anything to your iPod unless it's in a specific format with the right dimensions and bitrate and all sorts of annoyingly specific things!

Handbrake is the only free program I know of that will convert video into iPod specific video, but QuickTime player will do it if you obtain the pro version.

Once it's converted, if you import the new video into iTunes, it should be able to stick it on your iPod too!

Now you should get the Jodix software from http://www.jodix.com/ and use that to convert the ripped DVD files into an iTunes format. Then you can upload it to your iPod. :3

Handbrake is really quite great for converting DVDs to MP4 files. I'm curious what went wrong? Did the black command prompt window show up and disappear without doing anything? I've had that happen before, and I can't remember why it was, exactly. Maybe you need to mess with settings some more.

Am I the only one that thinks that Jodix sounds like either a porn store or a joke name?

It is a very odd name for a audio/video conversion program, yeah. :3
