Well, according to Blue, who is the physical embodiment of Faibanx MUCK, the 10th Anniversary of Faibanx MUCK (or F10 for short) is rapidly approaching. Match Game was tons of fun, but also requires tons of effort and tons of people to be present. I was thinking of giving a variant of the game Password a try instead, as it requires very little prep work and only requires 5 people total (two contestants, two panelists, one host).
The way that a game like password works is that you have a set number of times to try and guess a secret word. The game works as a pair between a contestant and a panelist, and they switch to each other's panelists during the game to keep it somewhat fair talent-wise and even things out. It will also switch who is giving the clues and who is doing the guessing between panelists and contestants. The person giving clues gets that word paged in secret to him by the host. Then he has to give out one word clues to have the other person guess the word, and let's say if you can't get it within, say, three tries, you lose that word.
For example, let's say the secret word is SHOE. The first clue that could be given could be FOOT, and from that, the guesser would perhaps guess something like TOE. That not being it, the second clue given is COVER. As you can see, putting the clues together helps to give out the word, so a clever person would then get it and say SHOE as it's a COVER for a FOOT. If he guesses wrong, maybe the next clue would be LACE, and maybe he'd not be such a doofus and finally get it by then.
Anyway, as being a very simple game that only requires a few clever words to be thought up ahead of time, that'd be easy to do on a more frequent basis than Match Game. If the trial run for F10 works, we can maybe set up matches every other Saturday, and even do some at the same time in groups of five people. I was thinking that the time should be Saturdays at 10am Faibanx time (GMT-9), as it worked out well for most folks with the last Match Game, although that was on a Sunday. The only group put out would be the Australia region, where that would be very early Sunday morning. It would be mid-day to afternoon for most of America and early evening for Europe.
Thoughts?
