Every now and then, there is a very special creature born in the raptor society. They possess magic that lets them heal, they are able to channel arcane energies, and their bodies are gifted with mystic enchantments that are able to make them revive fully healed out of the remains of their own corpse. Even though these special raptors would be gifted fighters on the battlefields, the public usually makes them shamans in their tribal world, aiding their people. So it was the case with Ahastar.

When the cruel, evil dragon Bolt appeared to ransack his village, the gruesome creature not only demanded an incomprehensible tribute of gold and gems, the vile beast also took their village shaman prisoner. He ordered the remaining townsfolk to chain their former witcher onto the dragon’s cracked, crushing footpads, then went on his way. The dragon loved to take their magical brethren as playthings to suffer his sadistic moods and wanton, dark desires for a decade or two; yet after a merely ten steps, Bolt had already forgotten about Ahastar again. Not because the ancient dragon had a spotty mind, but because the dragon cared so very little for the unworthy life scattering along the soil. A raptor does not remember the gnat sitting at the lizard hut’s wall, why would a dragon remember the lizard strapped under his earth-flattening tread?

Ahastar so badly wished the dragon would have had forgotten about him before the beast strapped him beneath his obliterating paw. Alas, it did not. And so the raptor minstrels forged their fearsome songs of the grim dragon and the sole-squashed shaman – to be whispered in terror, not be sung of in joy.

Raptor and post office roof are one!

God, now I have to add your description to the list of things I love about this picture, which puts it WELL past rex counting length. The amount of detail you pumped into this is incredible - all those cracks and grooves and particles and the like! Amazing work, man.

Bolt dragon has some seriously military-grade toes...
