Hello everyone - RipRoarRex finally closing the door on a very busy week with another new picture. And boy, am I glad to finally have this one finished.

Some of you here might be aware of Dj-Rodney, a very good paw/macro cartoonist who specialises in bears. I've been following Rodney's work for many years since his early days in the fandom over on BigClawz, and I have always been a fan. While I have only occasionally explored my enjoyment of bear feet in the past with pictures such as 'Walk In The Woods' or 'Alternative Hypnosis', I do find their size and predominantly fleshy soles to be extremely attractive. Seeing the particularly appealing way in which Rodney depicts them frequently whets my appetite for them, and inspires me to try drawing them more often. Hence, by means of a tribute, who better for me to draw than his own bear character, Rodney Uriel Medina?

:)

As everyone probably already knows, musky feet are perhaps my biggest fetish, albeit occasionally switching with stomp/crush. Given that I had seen sufficient evidence over the years in Rodney's artwork to believe he shared this particular kink, I decided to base his gift image upon this theme. On reflection, the end product has become something of a combination of various past pictures of mine, with elements reminiscent of 'The Summer Job', 'Feline Supremacy' and 'Post Match Musk'. Should anyone be put off by the musk however, there is an alternative non-musky version available from the link supplied below the attachment.

I had originally planned to upload this last weekend, but a variety of family issues took priority in the past week, and coupled with my job, I decided to submit the picture this weekend instead. In truth, it was a good job that I did, because it gave me more time to work on it and develop it to a level of detail that would not otherwise have been possible - at least not without rushing it considerably.

I started the drawing back in about July/August, though as I am by no means as familiar with drawing bears as Rodney is, I found the exercise quite difficult and never quite got it right. Things were then complicated a bit more by some unfortunate timing when Rodney submitted an updated reference sheet for his character, thereby overriding his old one. As I had originally based my drawing on the old reference sheets, I took the opportunity to adjust various features in accordance with the new design.

As mentioned earlier, the additional time I granted myself by revising my personal deadline meant that I had time to go a bit mad on the colouring and detail for this one. Most notable was my experiment with the texture on the sole - I had tried painting such sole textures in the past (such as in "Annihilation") but it had never turned out as I'd hoped. This time therefore, I used the same technique as with Rexar's scale texture, sourcing a photographic sample that I then colorised, scaled and rotated accordingly to make it fit to the shape. It was experimental and isn't perfect, but I am much more satisfied with the result here than in previous efforts. Of course, the difficulty presented by going to town on the sole texture is that you then introduce the need to implement similar levels of detail everywhere else, hence I added the fur, the wood texture on the table and various other features.

This is one of those pictures that I think ranks up with the best I've done, so I hope it is to everyone's liking.

;)

When Rodney invited you over to see his 'massive pad', you thought he meant he had a big house. Much to the bear's delight, you didn't realise your mistake until it was much too late.

Yeah, Rodney's a good bear-bro. I'm sure he appreciates this.

That's a good texture there... but I'm not sure it's a good paw texture. The toes are one thing, but stretching it across the heel and center as well just makes it look more out of place. From what I've seen of bears (and other animals) their skin simply isn't like ours. It's a step backward from "Walk In The Woods" in my humble opinion.

Wow, very nice work there!

Personally I think the texture's great - anything to draw attention to those nice fleshy pads...

Heh - I think you've rather missed the point there, Sprotchymon. I made that texture in that particular way because I really liked the idea of it and didn't consider it at all 'out of place'. Whether or not bears have skin like ours is not my concern - to be fair, I have it on good authority that they don't wear hats like us either.

;)

Besides, if we're talking biological accuracy, Walk In The Woods was far worse - I gave a grizzly the pad configuration of a polar bear. Methinks this is an improvement.

I definitly agree with the above statement! Inaccuracies will 'always' occur in fetish works. Also another fun fact: Paws of mammals can't actually sweat like that. ;P
That being said: Good fetish work is good fetish work, no matter how you twist or turn it and this pic is an amazing gift for Rodney the Dragon/KingUrsa/DJ-Rodney/RyanChu. ^_^
So definitly keep up the great work RRR. ;3

What is anthropomorphism, after all, if not adding the attributes that make us human?
I didn't mean to imply it was inaccurate, rather, it was accurate in a peculiar way. Maybe even too accurate. Uncanny Valley, if you will.

I'm reminded of the joke about the farmer and the pig squealing contest...

Well drawn, and good paws too, as far as I can judge that.

Hmm. Didn't know he was known as RyanChu? Where does he use that name?

Anyway, thanks Billy. :)

I suspect a footpad would be like a house for a speck anyway. :D

Well he 'was' known as RyanChu when at some point he indentified with a Raichu.

And I remember he was on Deviantart under his RyanChu name as well, though I can't seem to find him under that name so my mind's probably derping here. =P
Usually I'm very good at remember old member's names. Like Diablo was Mr.Snail, Ahastar was Infernion and etc. etc. Aww well. <:3

Hey, he's a young kid, he can go from pokemans to Dragon Tales to bears, it's cool. :) Probably means he's not stopping with bears, though! :)

Aye, I remember. Though I've always just been plain old RipRoarRex. Apart from the swathes of people that call me Rexar.

Well if not, I hope he doesn't move on too soon. I rather like the bears! :)

Didn't know he did Pokemon stuff though. Guess I really didn't know anything about his RyanChu identity.

Yeah, the pokemans is news to me, too. I only first saw his stuff at the Dragon Tales level. :)
