Yes, since I've finally given up on my Blue-like desire to take my ancient and beloved Dinosaucers videotapes and process them as if they were a fine wine, I just got a high-end DVD/VCR combo unit and I'm going to take my old videotapes and have it convert them to DVD's. I did a test run last night on an old anime tape (Dragon Half) at "HQ" settings and it's identical to the videotape, even after ripping with Handbrake's default settings. Yeah, it's not pretty and would still require the "ripping" step to get it to a regular video file, but that's still very easy to do, and automate.

Also gave me an excuse to set up a TV in our bedroom. :)

Anyway, I will do a few more tests with the quality settings, as HQ means only 1 hour of recording per single layer DVD and I can probably get away with less since they're just videotapes, but then I'll just start sticking in my old tapes and have them magically converted before they disintegrate completely. It's amazing to think that they're over 20 years old. A lot of you aren't even that old! :)

P.S. No one tell Astor.

I'm sure Astor will find out all on his own. :3 After all, who can resist all those lovely big dinosaurs?

Evidently we're creatures of habit! I know! Lets trade things up a tad. :3 Dino can get all super bloated with the air tank, Astor can fart around with a slipper, and I'll be even more of a gigantic horny pervert than I already am. :D

Oh yeah, and something about Dinosaucers too. Something something something.

I know I probably don't have to tell you, but if you don't set Handbrake to Decomb, I will stomp...

No, wait, let me rethink this...

I will NEVER stomp you again!

Actually, funny you mention that. Handbrake make it look like SHIT with the decomb setting, the frames were all kinds of jittery...was really odd. When I did Dragon Half, I left the combmarks so it wouldn't be all eviljumpy. I'll have to see how both old generation and new generation Dinosaucers tapes handle with that DVD/VCR thingy.

Dinosaucers has just ruined my childhood.

Turns out the voice of Allo is the same guy who played Herc Stormsailer in Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors, the best anti-hero pirate spacer you'll find in the 80s, in the best cartoon of the 80's.

But according to IMDB, the same voice actor played Bert Raccoon.

Childhood memory raped. I'll never be able to watch Jayce in the same way again. Thanks.

No, what's sad is that Len Carlson is dead now. :( I was going to ax him to do some voice clips for LD5 someday.

Weird, I've had perfect results from using it. If that's not working out, maybe just try straight up deinterlace, since you KNOW it's going to be interlaced to hell and back. I really can't stand those kinds of artifacts in VHS-sourced stuff. :/
