Legacy LD5

The minekruft server for LD5 is down for maintenance. The latest version corrupted the world a bit and actually kills the whole fucking server it runs on, with the current hardware. It really wasn't meant to run on that box, though, so I'm going to work on setting up a small dedicated PC to run it. Should be up in a day or so.

Just a wee lil' PC that's running nothin' but Linux and the Minekruft server, so if it explodes it won't take down the whole OS like it did on the previous box. Way to isolate your Java VM, Sears!

I was curious about something... I am be to the whole web site making and was wondering what software or equipment you use to run this server? I am creating a cryengine system and was wonder what the best choice would be to run it on... I'm a noob at all this and would appreciate the help...

I kinda just use whatever. I will be announcing stuff soon and I'll have to show off the current 'server pile' for laughs.

For anyone still interested in Minekruft, I restarted a new "amplified" v1.7.5 world and have lived in it solo for a while, so figured I'd open it up to those who were on the LD5 server before, so you can get in and tinker! Got a few mines going and a well established indoor farm and base. BRING ME DIAMONDS

Well, big Minekruft 1.8 just came out. Lots of portals went out so I went around like a lamplighter, but they all still function and are back where they should be. Also, sunflowers seemed to pop out of the ground, and some chickens seem to have been wiped due to being slightly inside blocks or whatever in enclosures.

I have yet to see what became of Khith's iron farm...

Is this still a thing? Maybe I'll come build a hovel.

You really should, Krll! There's tons of different places we just dropped portals and moved on in the exploration. You'd be able to hide like a weesaur in Godzilla's slipper if you wanted.

I really should start on a less huge slipper, like I was doing in Slipperworld, so that it would actually get done.

Well, we had another server corruption due to frequent power outages, so Khith lost about a month's work of iron farm (basically just have to make the last node again). As a result, I've finally gotten off my butt and installed an automatic backup script on the server so it'll pull a backup every day.

And also finally going to think about doing mods. If there are mods we can do for this latest Minecraft revision, I'll look into it.
