(Split into 2 parts.)
Ah that rarest of rarities, the North Korean giant monster movie. There aren't too many movies about good giant monsters, so this one is a bit of a stand out. The monster helps the peasants overthrow the corrupt monarchy! He eats metal and gets bigger. That's his MO, really.

Sourced from only the finest of bad audio quality VHS tapes, this movie is sure to provide you with enjoyment! I'm not really sure if anyone but me cares about all these movies, but I still like to share them from time to time. See it for the claws! See it for the oddity! See it for the political drama!

Did you convert this yourself, Selendro, or were you just the one to track it down?

Every movie I've put up so far I've encoded myself, yeah. I try to have the best possible quality source I can track down.

He's like a crack dealer, only it's giant claws instead of crack. :)

Interesting little story. I had a very hard time telling the two warring factions apart, and I lost track of why they were fighting in the first place. I also wondered why the farmers didn't sent the big guy ahead of their troops, to avoid friendly fire- er, stomping. He tore apart some walls, ate a bunch of weapons and provided moral support just by being there. But all the real (read: loosely choreographed) fighting was done between the humans; he was just a big lizardy cheerleader. All told, Pulgasari only ever stomped one guy. Reason to celebrate all the same.

As I watched this film I kept thinking to myself, why don't they just keep giving him Iron to grow even bigger

;-)

Granted then the ending would of been STOMP, well there goes the king's castle, his guards, their homes, heck the entire kingdom

;-)

I so need a lil playmate yanno

;-)

You know...big lizardy cheerleaders is something I think I can get behind on the whole.

I suppose part of it was showing the people rising up (it is supposed to be a kind of Communist propaganda film) and probably the life size giant foot prop was not the easiest to work with.

They somehow never are.

Dude, shit. You're amazing.
Much more amazing than Dino... I mean — the Ruinous Powers.

Interesting how Asians always seem to use giant lizards/reptiles (dragons included) to represent or get at whatever symbolically (e.g. Godzilla originating from fear of nuclear fallout). If only they would just embrace them for their plain awesomeness then we'd have more workable giant foot props because there would be more minds thinking about how to make them better.
