Legacy LD5

Well, all you LD5ers out there who were wondering what we were doing in Crackton and why the scalies were somewhat acceptable can now find out for free. Apparently, City of Heroes "Freedom" is now online so anyone can make a Crackton account for free now and join the "Lava Dome Five" supergroup. My "global" chat handle is @Dinosorceror, so if you see me on, lemme know so I can add you to either of the supergroups (I think the "evil" side one is called Jurassic Power).

Now that it's free, it'd be nice to see more LD5 members dick around there. Beats working!

and do correct me, but I think there are only 2 character slots per account, not server.....so this would be rather important bit of info and that you lot stay on SINGLE server, not multitude

I ordered City Of Heroes Going Rogue CD due to all the problems of getting Freedom installed on this computer, I figure it'd be easyer to just have a actual disk of CoX instead of dealing w/ people who can't seem to understand that the game just doesn't want to install in the first place =P

Amazon had it for like $5.00 plus another $5.00 for shipping / etc so $10.00 all together

Hate to say it, Woulfe, but not sure that's gonna help you out. I'm pretty sure Going Rogue does not include the new evil launcher that some people have issues with, so you're still gonna have to download an update for that (and tons more update downloads, too, since Rogue came out).

The New Launcher is what's giving me problems, not working at all

A lot of people have problems with that, and it's because it's a piece of new age web stuff crap.

The NCsoft launcher requires .net framework, version 3 I think, some other MS stuff installed (see support faq), wants connection to google analytics (though you can disallow it, that will make it take 5 minutes longer to start, and for the store it is mandatory) and basically requires you to allow all the fucking and annoying stuff you ever told your firewall to block.

If that doesn't help or is not detailed enough, go look in their forums, you may find something useful there.

I uninstalled NORTON to get it to work, still didn't install the game, I reinstalled NORTON afterwards of course, stupid to have to jump through so many hoops just to play a game =P

I blame the folks who wrote the installer, folks should not have to perform rocket science just to play a game

AFTER what seems like so many trials & errors dealin' w/ the !@#$%^&*()_+ installer, got the game installed after long last, couldn't find my old character on it, typical, so I just made a new one instead, big, buff, black, Funrir Woulfe

Should be noted that free players are not allowed to send tells, which is pretty annoying.

Don't forget, you can get a month of VIP access for a buck as of 30 minutes ago. This is a great time to permanently unlock tells chat, etc. if your account is still a free one.

And worth pointing out that if you spend just $15, one time, you get decent access forever.
