Hi everyone - RipRoarRex here, about to take a big art dump all over the forums with my 'June 2012' batch!

:sit:

First up... Nope. Haven't gotten over Alan-a-Dale yet, folks.

:P

This is picture one of my 'June 2012' batch, and the third time I've drawn Alan - AKA the rooster from Disney's Robin Hood - but it's the first time I've ever tried drawing him doing anything stompy. (After all, sadly it seems nobody has!)

:(

People who follow my work will surely know that I don't generally bother with 'accidental' stomps, largely because I much prefer malicious, carefully-aimed deliberate stompage! But somehow I just felt it didn't suit Alan. For whatever reason, he just strikes me as too nice a guy to go around squashing people. Hence, I decided to try out an 'unaware' scenario.

I thought the little bug characters I used in last year's Timon crush/vore comic were rather cute and fun to draw, and they do seem to fit the Disney style rather well. As such, I decided to revive the character design in this picture. In keeping with the friendly nature of the picture though, I thought I would make them a willing victim to a figure they admire, enjoying the happy accident that has befallen them - and without all the squirtings of bright green bug juice that littered the last comic!

;)

I didn't want to stray too far from the Disney styling but nor did I want to go overboard with detail/anatomy on this one, so hopefully I've found a happy medium, though there are a few errors here and there. But even so, I'm pretty pleased with the way it has come out.

As for the background, I had already decided that I wanted to keep it simple, so I went with 'islands' of setting on a plain white backing. It wasn't just laziness, I assure you!

Anyway, enjoy the birdy talons - and the rest of the batch!

That's the funny thing about meeting your favourite movie stars. They can leave a lasting impression on you, even if they might not realise it.

You're just the right size / to stomp the buggy guys / But you're not T-Rex / You're a chicken, Dale.
A welcome break from your run of mean-spirited giants. Nice work!

You've really mastered that fleshy look - the soft diffused shadows and slight sheen around the edges. You make it look effortless, damnit!

I might do the same. But I've no idea what it is because the video's just returning "An error occured during validation. (Sorry about that.)"

:? Lol!

But thanks anyway, Sprotch!

It certainly isn't effortless. It generally takes HOURS.

:squint:

But glad it's worth it! Thanks, D!
