Legacy LD5

How's this for a first draft?



I just love using that evil font, so I don't care who complains that they can't read it.

Banners are for the weak. You're looking at the entire front page. The only thing I was thinking of still adding was an LD5 logo of some incarnation in the upper left.

That font is certainly something... though I can't help but feel that it's maybe a little too difficult to read. I can decipher it all, but I don't think character recognition should require that much work! Lol! And I think the site name needs to be a bit more prominent really.



Interesting idea though. How exactly would this be incorporated into the existing setup?

(Oh, and if you need a hand adding any extra graphics to it, I'd be happy to assist if necessary.)

I think it says "denominator" (you know, LCD?).

But really, this gives me a "futuristic" feel to it.

Oh god, that font again!

It's completely impossible to work out what any individual letter is, let alone read the words. Unless the secret idea is to keep people out of LD5, I'd seriously recommend using a different font!

True, the big fuck-off dinosaur in mid-stomp sort of gives away the content of the site, but having readable titles will still make things clearer...

Well. Depending on where you click on that image, it will take you to a different part of the site, right? Then it's considered an imagemap. If you can get that far, it's not much effort to toss in some Javascript so that each block of text changes to a plain-font version when you move your cursor over it. This would mean starting with two versions of the splash page; one image with plain-font overlay and another with the funky font.

It's one way round it, certainly, but I'm afraid I'm with Diablo on this one. In fact, at first sight, I dare say there will be people out there who might not even be able to discern that the characters are of the English alphabet!! Lol! They probably wouldn't even bother moving their mouse over the words if that was the case.

There may be those here who are familiar with the font and the way the site works, but let's bear in mind that there will be people out there for whom LD5 could be the first evidence they get of the existence of a paw fetish community, so the last thing we want them to do is see the homepage, get confused thinking it's some weird site in Russian or something and leave. Even for someone like me, if it were my first-time visit, I'd probably get a bit pissed off with struggling to read things, and if there was a mouse-over-to-change-font system, I'd be wondering what the point was of not just using that font in the first place!

Actually , since it will only delay any work I'd have to put out, I'll make one of them there votes for people to vote on whether they think the funky font should be used. We're a demacrocy!

Lol - in fairness, Dino, your funky font to Arial is quite a bloody leap!!



Surely there's a happy medium we can find here? Something readable but a little more interesting?
