Ahh, yet another case of grammar gone awry. ^^() That particular term, along with many others, are aspects of English I wish people would use properly. :3 Unfortunately the correct implementation of the language seems drastically lacking these days.

A Point of View is not a term to express ones opinion, it is a literal point with which to be viewing something. Ta-da!

Perhaps the reason folks use the term so much as that they believe not using it would feel awkward, like... trying to describe a beam of light without being able to reference a source.

By your definition, "POV" is a given in any story, including those with a disembodied/omniscient narrator, and is therefore redundant. Confirm/Deny?

A few comments about this. First off, point of view never even needs to be mentioned in a story as it's understood by reading the context of how things are happening. That's why English classes have you do exercises where you read excerpts from a story and tell what the point of view is from. Did someone use the term POV in an rp or something with you, Diablo?

Secondly... is there such thing as a second person point of view? I mean, they have first and third, but what happened to second?

Third, this is a bit off-topic, but PEOPLE! No more 3-word replies to someone's topic with the nonsense of contributing nothing but a small pose or somesuch. If you want to roleplay, that's fine and dandy, we have private messages, a Muck and tons of other ways to do that. Nonsensical posts wouldn't mean so much to me either if they were well thought out or written. So please act appropriately on this forum. /rant

No no, I love people using the term 'POV' in roleplays, it's amazing. What I'm talking about is a picture like this:

- being called a 'POV shot'. Victim's POV! Or first person POV! Maybe you could say, 'wow i raelly leik teh POV in tihs shot', which would be fine, but if you're specifically referring to the kind of point of view, it must be stated. Here are some examples:

"I love this POV shot" - WRONG
"I love this POV" - right
"I love the POV in this shot" - right
"POV is my favourite kind of shot" - WRONG
"The POV is the best thing about this shot" - right
"First person POV is my favourite kind of POV" - right
"POV shots make me blast my pants off" - WRONG
"Victim's POV shots make me blast my pants off" - right
"POV is awesome I wanna lick his sole!" - WRONG
"This POV is so awesome I wanna lick his sole!" - right

So basically you're in grammar-Nazi mode? We might have to make a grammar-Nazi club or something for RP'ers. Sometimes it annoys me when people use the wrong words in certain situations. Really just depends on my mood though. For instance, they're and their is a common one that bugs me a bit.

Sorry I can't give specific examples as I don't really keep track of how it bugs me... or I'm just too tired at the moment to think any up. Either way though, I just correct them as I go if it bothers me enough. XD
