Legacy LD5

Below is an attachment of Brooklyn from the Gargoyles in one of each image type. These types I would say are the most common types among media. Obviously Brooklyn has digitigrade feet, also consider another character that would have plantigrade feet in your poll. There are numbers on each of the images from 1-8. Please put in order from best like to least like.

The following descriptions in order
1. Feet on the ground from a distance
2. Feet not on the ground close up
3. Foot/Feet from the front on the ground close up
4. Foot/Feet from behind on the ground close up
5. Sitting position with soles of the feet together
6. Sole(s) from a distance
7. Sole(s) from the front close up
8. Sole(s) from behind close up

You've put a lot of thought into this.

Of course, angle isn't everything - context is the real key. "Not on the ground" could mean simply floating in space (damn lazy artists and their lack of backgrounds) or looming above a bug/person/city/what-have-you.

Generally when the feet isnt on the ground, the character is either flying, jumping, climbing, falling, or any action that he is doing. Often times the animators will include an image of the feet for a second or two.

Honest, with me I am not really choosy. I kind of asked this because I have so many variations of images you see here and see how some people would like it. When I see an image that would be decently good, I will take it. The one thing I like to see more of is the character in sitting position with his soles of his feet together.

Here is my list, its really borderline with me.

2. Sole(s) from the front close up
3. Feet from behind on the ground close up
4. Sole(s) from a distance
5. Sole(s) from behind close up
6. Sitting position with soles of the feet together
7. Feet on the ground from a distance
8. Feet not on the ground close up

For me, it's definitely numbers 3, 5, and 8. My favourite of the three being number 8.

I wouldn't limit this to mainstream media (i.e. cartoons) as almost all foot closeups there are more of a "blink and you miss it" situation. I was just playing devil's advocate by bringing up context anyway.

I lean heavily toward plantigrade, so it's hard to explain why my number 3 spot is what it is. For example, I was playing through Live-A-Live for the SNES, and I encountered a very large non-boss enemy. All enemies in this game had only two sprites. From the front I was like "meh" but from the back I was like "hot diggity!" Sometimes the curvature of the heel really gets me for some reason...

4. Is the bestest for me. ^^

3 is fo' me

I like 4 and 7 the best. 7 is my favorite!

I'm not very footy, but you can't beat a nice digitigrade foot/leg. So 3 and 1 are my favourites, from an entirely un-pawfetishy opinion.
