This project started out as an awesome, but pretty crazy idea back on May 31st 2009, when the following lines popped up during an IM session between Ahastar and me:

Quote:
[19:55] Diablo: One day we'll have to do a full trample comic together
[19:55] Diablo: Maybe alternate with the sketching and colouring
[19:56] Diablo: That would be immeasurably hardcore
[19:56] Ahastar: I wouldn't mind that at all! In fact, I would actively enjoy it!
[19:56] Ahastar: I would advocate Bolt and Ahastar for it

Fortunately though, we are both crazy dinosaurs, so in the Summer we threw together some plans in Open Canvas and got stuck in!

We split the workload in half with what turned out to be remarkably accurate foresight - Ahastar took care of the layouts, tracing, frame and page backgrounds, and fire effects, while I did the sketching, character colouring, blood, text and other effects - and combined together, the two workloads took almost exactly the same amount of time. We both worked together on the concept, storyboard and dialogue.

It's been just fractionally over six months between the first frame being sketched (01.jpg) and the finishing touches being finished earlier today, but I'm so happy with the results that it might as well have been six years for all I care! What follows is a 40-frame, 11 page comic depicting the kind of scene that Ahastar and I have roleplayed with creepy frequency for the last few years: Bolt - the lively, playful and sadistic young bronze dragon - trampling to a messy end Ahastar - the resilient, resurrecting half-demon deinonychus with whom you are doubtlessly very familiar! If you don't like blood, stop reading here :)

Many, many thanks to Ahastar for producing this comic with me and for his raptorly support during the whole project. It's been a lot of fun!

Edit: Sorry for the multiple posts - we had technical issues!

Yes, we are finally done! For nearly half a year my rexcellent friend Diablo and me have been working together on our first mutual art project, and we are both pretty damn satisfied with the result. That satisfied, in fact, that we will most likely be producing more cooperative artwork in the future - because one thing is for sure: Neither of us would ever have even started tackling a 40 frame comic all on our own! The work itself perfectly split in half from the concept to the logistics to the sheer, raging fun of doing this together. Even shared between two it was an insane amount of labor, but one that I had a tremendous lot of joy with! Thank you, bro!

So here you go, enjoy a comic presenting raptor Ahastar's daily life at the gentle claws of his draconic keeper, Bolt!

Hell's bells! That's really impressive!

I'm not jealous. *grumble* always wanted to make a comic.

So this was your little secret project. You didn't promise too less though. :D I took some glances one it on the other forums, but since it is too small there I wasn't able to grasp all those details. THERE IS JUST TOO MUCH TRAMPLY CRUSHING GOODNESS FOR MY KEEN DRAGONEYES TO CATCH. Rawr! But now I'm loading the huge files from here now. It's still loading XD. This comic makes me so excited I even have troubles with getting a hard-on. XD You two definetly brough up a pretty awesome piece of scaly foot and crush art. Finally one more added to all the good gory tramply stuff. There just can't be enough of this. :D
Oh, it has loaded more, the hard-on is finally coming. XD

*smirks* this should be used as educational material... could really improve raptor - dragon relations in the long run. Also I couldn't help noticing the very resourceful idea of giving the ceiling a paintjob to add some warm colors to such a homy cave. Splendid display, I am impressed >^.-.^<

I dislike repeating myself, but given that I can't think of any better way of putting it, I have to relay my comments from Eccentricities over to these forums for the benefit of Ahastar, because I want to give both of you the enormous credit this deserves:

English is a fantastic language, a mix of ancient dialects interwoven to form a magnificent modern plethora of descriptive delights and expressive erudition. But somehow, despite this history, it just isn't sufficient for describing this comic. It's just too darn... *blank*

:o :o :o

Honestly, guys, I'm amazed. I have to shower both of you with a great deal of praise and commendation for your efforts here. The scale of the work involved is nothing short of astounding and to execute it all to such an accomplished level is beyond impressive. That, and the contents of it are truly mind-boggling for a hard-core crush fan such as myself.

(And page 9 - man, that was so harsh!!! )

Seriously, guys, kudos to you both for getting this done. Absolutely brilliant. ;)
