Only as mentioned in a different article, it would appear that Champions Online is beeing planned to go F2P. Don't ask me when and how, as I have no idea.

Welcome to the Champions Online Free-to-Play information center! It's here you can learn about our plans for the next few months, including how things will affect our current subscribers and what new options will be available to everyone.

Here's a quick overview of what you can expect in 2011:

■Unlimited Play Time – Play as much as you like, as long as you like, at absolutely no cost. No subscription or credit card required.
■Your Own Hero, Your Own Story – Become a hero, encounter your Nemesis and advance to maximum level at no cost.
■Play Your Way – Utilize the optional web-based and in-game C-Store to purchase gameplay upgrades or additional premium content.
We'll be debuting Champions Online Free-to-Play in the first quarter of 2011, but we plan on entering a special closed beta November 9, 2010. We can't wait to share this latest edition of Champions Online with you!

That sounds promising. Neato find, Maksio.

I somehow missed that game, just recently.
But shrugged it off as I'd never want to pay for it. It's not that good.
Or at least wasn't in the end of Beta.

Actually, unless other people prod me to check out Champions Online when it goes free, I just don't have a desire to. With Atari management changing them around and they way the bill and do things as rapidly as they are, I don't think that's a good sign of longevity anyway. Just...something's smelled slightly iffy or lightly desperate. And as Blue would say, I never heard of anything interesting about the game that compelled me.
