Firefox should be doable, in fact there's a video showing it running in ubuntu on a devboard.

WLM is in the same boat, it's closed source and propietary - that won't work either. Having said that there is an open source program which works with the AIM protocol, and I think also with the .net messenger service protocol called pidgin. It's completely open source, so all it would take is for someone to compile it, which I suspect someone will do as I am guessing several people will want this software.
Plus the pandora has built in wifi, so you won't need to hunt for a USB wireless device!
