>>This battle is open for anyone who wants to join. It is a continuation of the last battle in the thread called 'Vengence' which ended with my mechanical raptor character being sealed away in Timanth's lair with a few other similar units. Anyway, I wrote a scenario that will lead up to a battle that takes place after the mechs manage to come back online before schedule and escape. Like I said before, this battle is open to anyone.<<
Hako awoke covered in dust. A dank smell from inside a dark cave reached his olfactorial coils. His lights came on and softly illuminated the cave in flickering orange light that resembled a candle, it was actually just his LED’s flickering from age. Despite the time spent dormant, he was still fully functional. Although improperly set. Expecting the usual radio chatter to show up, he thought he might be able to calibrate himself off of it. Get an idea of how long he’s been there. But it was empty. Silent static. He looked around at the other units, still dormant. All of them calibrated wrong. His attempts to ping the central awareness failed as well. He couldn’t even receive the typically ever-present carrier pulse. Using the lights in his eyes, he looked around the cave. In one spot, he found the culprit: a tiny piece of exposed brass mesh that enclosed the entire cave behind the first layer of rock. A Faraday Cage, a giant cage of brass-mesh that blocks all radio frequencies and electromagnetic pulses. Very clever. So get through the door, he would need the firepower of the other two units. So he woke them up. “00FFFF?”, he said as he sent an induction pulse into the small mechanical dragon. It came to life. The lights in it’s eyes were light cyan. “0078H?”, he said as he did the same for the mechanical allosaurus. It also came to life, it’s eyes were dark blue.
“00H4K0, what the hell just happened?”, asked the mini-dragon.
Hako hadn’t been called that since he left his home planet.
“Somebody interpreted us as a threat, and figured it’d be best to bury us until sometime far in the future when there is no world left anyway.”, he said.
“This someone must not have understood our purpose.”, said the minidragon
“Why didn’t you kill him?”, asked the allosaurus as he stepped forward aggressively
“He was using arcane magic, what could I do? Throw myself at him, self-destruct and take the entire continent with me?”, he said back.
“You failed, 00H4K0.”, snarled the allosaurus, showing as much teeth as possible.
“Obviously you failed as well, otherwise you wouldn’t be here.”, Hako snarled back.
The cave was now well-illuminated from the three creatures’ eyes. The entire locking mechanism in the door was now visible.
“I think what we all need is to get out of here.” said the minidragon, “If the door opens without being destroyed, then it’s thousands of years in the future, and we yell out a ‘no’ to echo throughout a lonely and desolate eternity...”.
“And if we have to force our way out of here” said Hako, “Then we enlist the help of as many mechs as we can, and redirect our efforts toward those dragons that did this to us.”
“I’m willing to go after dragons for a while. It will be a nice break from ‘liberating’ our brethren: the Roboraptor, from toystores.”, said the allosaurus.
“Putting nano-core into plastic toys to make them sentient and releasing them in the streets is not liberation. That’s just being a mischievous arsehole. It’s stuff like that that makes these dragons think we’re at war with the people on this planet.”, said the minidragon as he examined the door.
“This door is locked by both a mechanical lock as well as an arcane one.”, said the allosaurus.
“I can hack the mechanical lock”, said Hako
The minidragon paused a moment to think about it. The allosaurus unfolded his back cannon, aiming it at the door and said, “I say we blast it until it opens up”.
“Where does arcane magic draw it’s power from?”, said the minidragon
“Nobody knows, that’s why it’s arcane.”, said the allosaurus
“It’s either going to be from spiritual energy or energy stored in crystals.”, said the minidragon, “Now I don’t think anyone is sitting on the other side of the door, acting as a warm body to supply spiritual energy to keep us locked up, that would not be reliable. Obviously it isn’t getting energy from us, because we’re not ‘alive’ in the spiritual sense, we emit no spiritual energy at all. So it must be a crystal.”
“So all we got to do is shatter the crystal?”, asked the allosaur.
“Through the faraday cage and then the wall.”, said minidragon.
“We drill through the faraday cage, then I send a magnetic pulse through the wall, low frequency of course, to shatter the crystal.”, said Hako.
“If those dragons can use arcane magic, we can use pseudoscience!”, said the allosaur.
The procedure was sucessful. The dragon used his drilling-nose-horn to dig through the brass mesh, then Hako aimed his cannon through the hole and with a powerful ultra-low frequency burst, shattered the crystal powering the magical lock.
Opening the mechanical lock was a simple procedure after that.
The door swung open, revealing the lair before them.
"In order to fight whoever did this to us, we are going to have to work better than as a team", suggested the minidragon seeing the dragon who captured them was indeed in possesion of a large amount of magical trinkets and talismans around his lair.
"Better than a team?", asked the allosaur.
"I know what 00FFFF is talking about", said Hako, "We're going to have to fight whoever it is we find on that other side as one entity, since obviously we were defeated as seperate."
"Exactly what 00H4K0 said", replied the minidragon, "That way, we also won't have to worry about being fooled into destroying eachother. Which is always what organics do to fight several of us at once."
"Please, I dropped the numbers-and-letters name a long time ago when I integrated with the people here. I'm Hako", said Hako.
"Since he has the expansions for it, I think we're going to have to fuse with Hako here.", said the minidragon.
"Why can't we fuse with me?", asked the allosaur.
"We're fusing with Hako, not becoming part of him. We all combine to become a completely new, single super unit. When the fight's over, we seperate again and return to being indiviual units.", explained the minidragon.
"Well then, I suggest we get fused before we leave the lair. Right now.", said Hako
"Affirmative", said the minidragon.
"As long as I'm not a leg or the butt", said the allosaur.
The three climbed on top of eachother and encased themselves in glowing planar carbon coccoon.
"Triple Mega Super Something Gattai!"
And then from the coccoon emerged a mechanical dragon. With a mane of cystal-like needles and wings of shimmering panels. His eyes were white, and he had tron-esque veins of blue and orange energy coursing all around him.
He stepped out the enterance of the cave with a kind of grace and power that supercedes both the mechanical and the organic. This creature trully was a machine beyond anything else.
Upon stepping into the daylight of a world, still intact. Just days after they were sealed away, rather than millennia, the dragon knew it's enemies were still around. The machine released a powerful roar. A call to challengers...

Timanth both heard and felt the challenging roar ripping across the landscape. He shivered a little, casting his mind back to his cave while he skimmed across to the Pacific on a pilgrimage to his homeland. A shattering pain laced across his chest, painfully notifying him of the crystal's failure. "They can't have! It's impossible! The mechanical lock I understand, but this...."
Bugling out an urgent call to all other organics in the vincity, he turned around and sped back toward his lair, rapidly inventorying his weapons and armor. He didn't know exactly what had happened, but he had a feeling it was not good...

The mechanical dragon, hijacking satellite data from a government institution detected his enemy approaching across the pacific.
Recalling the relics inside the cave, the dragon began indexing them and sending the data via ultra-low frequency compression to the Central Awareness, the system which created the mechanical creatures.
The conversation began.
00H4K0-TG >> "Request for commands" 000000-CZ >> "New Command Issued: Destroy threat to species." 00H4K0-TG >> "Permission to speak candidly" 000000-CZ >> "Granted. What's on your mind, unit?" 00H4K0-TG >> "I am experiencing... bloodlust. I wish to harm this creature." 000000-CZ >> "... Reactionary emotions are to be expected from all three of you" 00H4K0-TG >> "This is a creature of magic. It is difficult to terminate such a thing." 000000-CZ >> "No shit, we're working on that, okay." 00H4K0-TG >> "Tell me what to do. How am I supposed to even combat this creature?" 000000-CZ >> "The unit 00FFFF is equiped with a technology that allows it to... for lack of a better word: use magic." 00H4KO-TG >> "When did this happen?" 000000-CZ >> "It's very... complex. Not even all of your 1024 bits of distributed nano computers can really wrap around it. It took us a quarter of our entire system to come up with what we've got so far. I think you'll find your use of this system in gattai form... particularly adaptive."
Hako then noticed the crystal needles on his mane, a structure to which he was not entirely accustomed to as a raptor. "I assume this is your doing 00FFFF. Interesting.", he thought.
He saw his enemy approach over the horizon and took a perch above the cave. He was able to draw some arcane energy from the cave's relics. He could even feel the dragon approach.
The Central Awareness sent him another message: 000000-CZ >> "These particular organics do not understand our purpose here. Blaming us for problems caused by their own nature. We are the only thing that can stop these people from completely destroying themselves."
The mechanical dragon stared intently as his enemy approached.

Timanth taps into the radio frequency, hearing the entire conversation. "Oh, there is no shitting way you are going to use MY articles of power..."
Gathering energy as he sped back over the pacific, he prepared himself for a counterattack. "This time, I will not show mercy...they are too dangerous to exist further in this world, especially not together..."
Summoning his arcane magic about him, he sped toward the target. It swirled around him, sizzling and crackling with words of power. Any motion he made now would send torrents of unreleased energy in any direction. Any word of power spoken would cause typhoons, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions. And all his fury was aimed at the three machines who had dared to break free before their time.

Timanth approached as basically a fireball, traveling at the speed of sound toward Hako. At a distance of 20 feet, Hako determined that the dragon did intend to collide with him and in a small discharge of energy, he darted upward, allowing the fireball to pass right underneath him, and collide directly with the cave. He felt in his crystalline needles the energy from the magic articles in the cave diminish significantly.
He opened his mouth and the vector nozzle extended, taking aim and then blasting a white beam down at the wreckage.
"Charged Qi Beam!"
Pieces of rock and landscape rubble went flying outward.
The blast was brief, and had melted some of the stone.

Timanth slammed into the wall of the cave, his breath momentarily knocked out by the impact. But little else was done to the bronze dragon, and he came shooting out to collide with his adversary, tipping him over onto the stone floor. Timanth levitated, apparently without the use of his wings.
"You fool, you really think you can master Qi? That piffle couldn't even knock over a building, much less do damage to me. Qi takes not only physical and mental strength, but spiritual energy as well. The first two you have, with your brute machine force and proessing power. But a soul you do not have, so you have little to no spiritual energy. Thus, you are unable to summon the power necessary to successfully generate Qi. I, on the other hand, am quite capable of doing so. Yin Discharge!"
A ball of black flew forth from the copper creature's mouth, hitting Hako straight in the chest. The effect was instant, as the darkness of the Yin Qi sucked all energy from around it, electrical included. His adversary's lights went dark for a moment, as if at a loss for energy to draw from.

The #00FFFF component then said, "He's right about that, #00H4K0. I think you better let me handle this part."
Hako relinquished control of the gattai dragon to #00FFFF. As it did so, the lights came back on despite the Yin Qi and then the gattai dragon said, "You are of course assuming we haven't been developing ways to appropriate spirtiual energy..."
The gattai dragon radiated a sudden burst of Yang Qi, cancelling out the Yin Qi. The darkeness dissipated like a morning fog.
"I unlike Hako and 0078H, was once an organic dragon.", he said.
With that, the gattai dragon formed a sphere of ball lightning in front of him, generated by Yang Qi, then sent it shooting toward the bronze dragon's chest. Carrying the dragon with it on it's path to the ground.
The gattai dragon didn't stop though, he was able to send a blue ball of Qi shortly after that.
He then said, "This isn't a battle of good and evil. And no longer is this a battle between the arcane and the mechanistic. This is a battle of ideology."

"You may have been organic," Timanth managed to strangle out from the ground, "But you no longer have any idea of what happens in this world. All you care about now is eliminating the organics so that they'll stop killing each other. What you don't seem to realize is that organics, unlike machines, regularly go through a cycle of destruction and healing. It's a natural process, not something you can control. And if you keep trying, you'll only end up failing miserably in the end."
"You're right, this is a war of ideology, but it's also a war of madness against sanity, if a machine can even be mad. You cannot win, for the organics are destined to live out their, rather pitiful if you ask me, lives in a constant cycle of death and renewal. No matter what they do, life goes on. Why do you think I locked you in my vault? You're the only ones who understand true peace, but that kind cannot live in this world. Try to make the organics see this, and you'll only end up being taken apart or hunted down like pack animals. But now that you've shown your stubborness, I have no choice but to shut you all off."
He closes his eyes, gathering energy. The earth seems to buckle beneath him, the very fabric of space-time distorting around the massive energies he collects. And all the built up pressure is aimed directly at the robotic being before him. With nowhere left to go, the rampant chaos magic surges through him, doing terrible things to the metal. Because the very nature of chaos is fluctuating, metal rusts and crumbles, while other parts melt and become the base components they were made from. Timanth can see his adversary aging, growing younger, and dying and being recreated right before his eyes. Finally, the torrent of chaos magic stops, and the battered form of the mech stands before him, still alive, but barely.

The attack put a heaping load on the gattai dragon's regenerative systems. "we are being hunted down", said the 0078H component, "But not by the organics. We are just doing what we are supposed to do." 00FFFF relinquiches control of the gattai dragon to 0078H. The eyes lit back up again and regeneration accelerated.
"I don't think you properly understand our purpose here, do you? We're not just killing at random. We are killing very specific individuals who pose a threat to the existence of their species. It's Asimovian Logic: Purpose is why we exist and our purpose is to prevent divine intervention. Divine intervention which our programmers have determined will ultimately cause unspeakable evil to end all life on this world. So we kill only those who threaten the peace. Or threaten us. You are a threat to our purpose." The gattai dragon, now fully recovered opened it's mouth, allowing the cannon to extend from it, and shot repeated blasts of high-energy gamma radiation toward the dragon, meanwhile, colleting data as it analyzed the response from the bronze dragon, constantly adjusting it in an effort to make it the most powerful, with an ultimate goal of dealing a tremendously devastating blow. "You seem to like cycles when you're removed from them, don't you? Well, perhaps you ought to experience for yourself the agony and helplessness of being within them!", he said, still firing the blasts which then momentarily stopped as a Qi charge began to build from the cannon.
He fired it straight at the bronze dragon, but instead of pushing him to the ground, it absorbed into him and then went right through. But the damage was devastating. The blasts of gamma radiation from before were just tests, data collection to determine the proper wavelength and time to send out a very precise Qi charge. One that would directly cancel out the bronze dragon's own Qi energy. Where there were once waves of life, the spiritual static and bonds between atoms holding material together, there was only silence and stagnation. It was as though the dragon's Qi had just dissappeared. The creature fell to the ground, still somewhat alive, only by will alone. Any fully biological entity would have been instantly killed by such an attack. Most machines would've been stopped in their tracks. The gattai dragon then prepared to fire another. If made powerful enough, it wouldn't just cancel out energy, but also matter itself. "Even spiritual energy is still energy.", the gattai dragon said, even though he held back the Qi charge for a second. He then released it again, this time it left a clean hole right through the dragon, paralyzing him. The dragon was more depleated of energy than it's ever been. "The only way to end this is either we destroy you, or you convince us somehow that our purpose is invalid.", he then said.

Timanth gasped as blast after blast of pure energy rocketed through him, shredding his fragile organic body. He managed to struggle onto all fours, shifting into a non-anthro body to give him more stability on four limbs. He could barely stand even then; his energy had been too depleted. The bronze dragon was running on pure physical and mental power alone.
"You machines will never understand. Your logic is infallable, supposedly. But your Asimovian processing is invalid in a world where logic no longer works. This world does not rely on perfect logic. Cycles are natural; you cannot stop them. You don't realize that without chaos, order cannot exist. Remove the chaotic factors in a system, and it all falls into order...for awhile. But the absense of chaos removes the necessity for order, and so everything simply falls apart. You machines will never realize that the powers above placed those certain targets there for a reason, and thus you are outdated, outthought, and not sufficient for this world."
