Here's a little experiment I'm going to try with this forum, Character questions and answer sessions! Got a question to ask any of the characters? Here's where you ask it and receive a response! Hopefully this will be something to catch on with the Forum

Jared, when did you have your first corned-beef sandwich, and what was it like to you?

Jared writes:

Hey there! I dunno really when I first had a corned beef >sandwich<. I remember my mom made it one night when I was a little joey, just out of the pouch... Gave me a little slice of it next to my carrots and potatoes, and I just couldn't get enough! It's just such.. awesome taste.. I... I just can't get enough! I... Be right back.

>dashes off to McDonegals<

>about 45 minutes later<

Oooh, yeah. That hit the spot. Now, where were we? Oh yes. My first sammich with the ambrosia of the heavens... That was a few years later, after I'd learned how to eat with a fork and knife and all that. I was probably around five or so when I learned we were havin' corned beef again for dinner. That was a night to remember, just like every time we've had it. Ahh... Memories....

Oh yes. Leftovers the next day! I managed to get a stool pushed over to the counter, got out the tinfoil around the big buncha leftovers, pulled out the bag of bread, and... well, Dagwood woulda been proud. I remember I got every single bit of corned beef stacked up on one slice of bread, gently put the other slice on top... and then promptly realized I couldn't possibly open my muzzle that wide

Of course, being young and stubborn, I tried anyways... and promptly dumped half a pound of the glorious delight onto the linoleum

I musta cried for half an hour after that. Worse than crying over spilled milk! I made sure I wouldn't waste any good corned beef ever again, and my Dad showed me how to make a proper sandwich the next day... You can say the rest is history!

Glad I was able t' help! Now... I wonder if McDonegal's is still open late...

>hops off, tummy rumbling<

To Vikki: When did you first meet Jared and how did you end up working for Boomer Express?

Well, it's good to see that someone's interested in asking me a question! I'd be happy to answer ya on that one.

Now, Jared and I happened to meet all the way back in grade school, locally. It was none of the 'instant' friendship type deals either, mind you. I actually had the same teacher with him for several weeks before we finally 'met' even though we'd been in the same room learning arithmetic and how to write and all that for a while. I remember now exactly how we first came to know each other, and when I think about it, I think I now know why he came over to me that day during lunch break. My mom had packed me a nice sandwich, some chips, and a drink... the toaster dad made had burned the bread on the sandwich to something of the consistency of charcoal again, and I was busy scraping off the blackened parts when this kid walks up to me and says hello... but not to me. He was talking to my lunch...

Now, Jared's a pretty sweet guy, but not the brightest bulb in the batch, so I was a bit surprised when he started talking to my sandwich being scraped off over the trashcan... he really was looking right at the thing, so I was kinda wondering what he was gonna do...

He said, 'Why is that lady gonna throw you away?'

I told him, 'Nuh-uh! I'm gettin' all the icky black stuff offa it so I can eat it! There's no way I'd eat a burned toastwich' ... remember, I was barely 8 at the time.

  'Oh, okay then. Wanna trade?'

He showed me his peanut butter and jelly sandwich, and I must admit, seeing non-blackened food from my father's experimental cooking contraptions was quite a new experience! And indeed, non-toasted sandwiches were the best food I had ever had at that point... I agreed with a nod, and he sat down next to me, and we each ate our sandwiches in silence...

When we were done, he got up, 'Thanks, lady. My name's Jared. What's yours? Do ya bring in that kinda sandwich every day?' Not exactly Romeo meets Juliet, but yeah. We were 8.

'I'm Victoria Havencroft, and thank you for the...'

'You don't have another one of those sandwiches in there, do you?' He pointed to my lunch bag.

'Er, no, sorry. Maybe tomorrow! We still have plenty of leftover corned beef in the fridge! I'll ask my mommy to make me another one for you tomorrow, if you'

'WOOHOO!' He exclaimed. And he jumped almost higher than the teacher!

I guess you can say the rest is history. We started playing together, hanging out through school, doing stuff here and there, and now we're where we are today. Even the job we share is something we decided to try out together, since there's so few kangaroos in this area. I guess it's just the mob mentality we share, and the fact that Gary's always been there for us since day one...

Thanks again for asking that question. Ahh, brings back so many memories...

Ahh, Boomer Express. It's been my dream for quite some time now, to have and manage my own delivery service. Ya know, I don't really know why I decided to start up like this. It's been maybe a year since I started, and I've really only hired Jared and Victoria so far... they just seemed like the perfect match, and having all kangaroos really helps add to the brand image, you know?

It's been a long year, but they've really gotten the hang of it, running errands around town to local businesses and just keeping things moving... there are a few competitors out there that you gotta be wary 'bout, and ya gotta keep on yer toes. Taking on the big guys like FedEcks and UPPS can be a challenge if you're not prepared. That's why we market something... special in our brand of delivery.

I'm not at liberty to disclose this... special trait we're planning to introduce, but it will certainly increase our clientele by several hundred thousand fold, and open up whole new worlds in package delivery ability... Keep watching Boomer Express!

To Adam: When did you first realize you were attracted to Vikki?

To Jared and Vikki: What were your first jobs? [not sure if the APril Fools strip with Jared is in continuity]

Magic? Heh, well, it's really a thrill, you know? I can do all sorts of stuff that I never thought would be possible! It's so many good things, it's hard to really pick just one... Hmm...

I guess it's the fact that I can... no, that doesn't really work... I can just be... better. I want to do so much after that whole Precursor incident... I can't stand being so powerless to help Jared or any of my other friends, so that's probably the best thing about it... I can help my friends a lot better now... if I only get the chance, of course... >sigh<

The worst thing about magic, is how it feels... it's really powerful, but cold and chilly when I try to channel it properly. Before Isa taught me the proper way, magic felt really warm and comforting, but now it's like cold rivers of ice water skittering through me when I cast... it's getting to be a bit of a drain sometimes... but nothing I can't manage!

Thanks for the question!
