Alright, now this *is* getting frustrating.

If it's saving to minimal.db again...

Honestly. I *know* I didn't have this many problems with the server. I had a number of problems with a number of servers before that, but the problem always was I'd accidentally corrupted my database by opening it in notepad, and I had to run sanfix and sanity checker to fix it.

So now I recommend that to anyone moving a database, since it has to convert it anyway. I can't understand what might be crashing it!

Perhaps there's still multiple restart.exe's floating around? Although technically, restart.exe should only run long enough to start fbmuck with the proper settings, and then quit. If there were multiple restarts at first, and then multiple fbmucks later, that would make more sense. And also might cause conflict, if all the fbmucks are fighting over the same database to save/load to.

So all I know about that is not to use @restart, but @dump and @shutdown instead, followed by re-opening restart.exe yourself.

I sure hope things work out. Although who knows, we could be back on the old server. With this much trouble, it would sure make sense.

The MUCK is back up, everyone, and I've gone back to the previous version, right where we left off on January 2nd when I first did the upgrade.  The Faibanx staff is working on recovering stuff lost in the past two weeks, and user accounts are being re-created.

The new muck software just plain did not work.  First it looked like we can fix the problem, but no matter what I tried, I siimply could not run the new restart.exe, and that must be critical to its functionality.

The updated muck has not been eviscerated.  I will be running it to recover any data anyone wants personally, so contact me to recover stuff that's important that you don't want to re-create yourself.
