Faibanx MUCK is back up and running again, as the upgrade performed on January 2nd was a disaster. The database itself seemed to upgrade fine, but the muck software was not behaving as advertised, and certain elements just plain didn't work. Therefore, we're back to a stable muck platform again, and I apologize to everyone for the chaos of the past two weeks. The muck database has been restored from January 2nd, just before we upgraded, so anything that was created after that has to be re-created. I believe I've already taken care of re-creating most of the new characters who have come along in that time. In addition, I have the full logs and database of what we had been running up until the 11th, which is when it last crashed yet again with the new software. I'm sure there was a lot of building done since then, and we have the ability to recover it all by running the upgraded muck on a separate computer and extracting the information. I take full responsibility for this shitty non-upgrade, and I'm ready to assist people in getting back what they lost in the past two weeks. ------------------------------- Dinosorceror, Administrator Lava Dome Five Enterprises |

Aw, now I've got to have some responsibility too.
I'm the one who suggested it and got a bunch of people excited about it.
Besides, most of the MUF functions it adds can be recreated, and I'd like portability anyways. I'll take very little effort to make up for that.
Sorry it didn't work out! And sorry it caused so much irritation, for Dino and everyone.
I would've futzed with it until the whole thing was working on my own computer had I been able to, so the MUCK wouldn't have to restart for the upgrade until everything was perfect.
Anyways, sorry you went through all the trouble.
Really, Faibanx runs fine on 5.3, and the only two reasons for the upgrade (which were eventually reduced to just one, because of the lack of client support for the other) were to get some new MUF prims to use in inrooms, and to attempt to write a nifty GUI for things like wwi and such.
And inrooms will survive, most definitely. I just need to find all the functions I'm using that are 6.03 specific, and write $defines to accomodate them. I was doing this before, so no loss there.

Uhhh...5.3? When I do a @version on the muck that's running now, it says Muck2.2fb6.01. ------------------------------- Dinosorceror, Administrator Lava Dome Five Enterprises |

Ah, yeah. It seems up until recently they don't keep their version information centralized. MPI will say one thing, @version says another, and MUF says TWO more things depending on what you use. I guess it IS 6.01, not 5.3. Considering they probably wouldn't have put 6.01 ANYWHERE before it got there.
