The Dismal Oubliette's Happy Funky Photo Album

There is truly all sorts of junk here.  Old junk and new junk.  It's all sort of haphazardly thrown into certain categories, and I'm working on captions and explanations whenever I get around to it, so don't expect any grand miracles or anything.  Hey, clicking on any of these gallery links will open a new window, but it's okay because there are no annoying pop-ups on this site.  So, crazy go nuts!

Ye Olde Miscellaneous Gallery - this is a mish-mash of old pictures that didn't really go anywhere else.  Some stuff from our long-ago trip to Philly, a few Alaska pix, and other junk.  Including a Christmas tree ornament that I made myself.  That's a famiy f***ing heirloom!  Gaze upon it and marvel!

Denali Park 1999 - in fall of that year, Dino and I had the opportunity to drive into Denali Park with our own vehicle, which is usually not allowed beyond 13 miles in.   These are photos of all the wonderful scenery of this wild and amazing place, and of course, Mt. McKinley herself.

Yukon Quest 2000 -  everybody knows about the Iditarod, but the Yukon Quest race is not as well known.  Every alternate year, the race runs between Fairbanks Alaska and Whitehorse in the Yukon (or is it Deadhorse?  I can never remember...), and on the in-between years it runs the other way around in reverse.  So, in 2000 it started in Fairbanks, and we were down on the Chena River (yep, ON the river) to see the mushers off.

Chena Trip 2000 -  while living in Fairbanks, Dino and I drove out to the Chena Hot Springs one afternoon, and these are some pictures we took along the way.  Truly thrilling...  especially the geese and the stank sulfuric waters of the springs.  The beaver dam is interesting, tho.

Ice Sculptures 2001 -  Every year Fairbanks holds a winter festival of sorts, and one of the attractions is the ice carving competition.  Here's some of the better entries from that particular year  (mainly herpy).

San Francisco 2001 -  This was the first year that I got to go south and attend Yaoi-Con, which was wonderful fun, but while we were there anyway, Dino and I took some extra time to see some of the sights of the Bay Area.  'Tis a very nifty city.  Here are the places we went:

Monterey Aquarium - where I went nuts taking pictures of jelly fish

China Town - where I forgot to take any pictures

Golden Gate Bridge - where I took a ton of pictures again because I have a fetish for large industrial structures

Muir Woods - where I took a picture of every tree we passed

Portage 2002 - this documents a trip out to see Portage Glacier that summer when my mother was visiting.  There's also a couple pictures of downtown Anchorage, the 4th of July parade and the cutely dismal little town of Whittier.  I liked Whittier.  It scares Dino.  One of the bestest pictures I've ever taken is in this gallery - that of the American flag against a backdrop of glaciers.  All patriotic and inspiring and junk....

Fur Rendezvous Fireworks 2003 - every February in Anchorage, we have the Fur Rendezvous festival, which is essentially just a two week diversion from the lovely cold and miserable Alaskan winters.  It's always kicked off with a dandy fireworks show, and this year I experimented in trying to catch pictures of them.

Alaska Zoo February 2003 - a fun trip to the Alaska Zoo here in Anchorage!  See lots of Alaskan animals, plus tigers and snow leopards and an elephant!  Whee!

Iditarod 2003 - here's a few shots of the start of the Iditarod on 4th Ave in Anchorage.  Because of severe lack of snow this year, the trail had to be constructed of snow trucked-in from other areas.

These last three galleries are the ones that are currently being updated most often.

Kitties - (last updated 07/01/2003) an entire gallery devoted solely to our precious felines.  Benjamin is the 15 pound orange tabby and Josef is the 24 pound black.  Yes, 24 pound.  He's a big boy.  These picture span many years.  Pretty kitties!

Matthews Drive - (last updated 07/01/2003) this is where we currently live in South Anchorage, and this gallery is pictures of things around the house or yard.

Walks - (last updated 07/01/2003)  this is where I'm putting pictures I'm talking on my walks around the area where we live.  This consists mostly of scenic shots, experiments with my camera and wildflowers.

That's all!  Better head BACK to the Dismal Oubliette.
